After a bit of a hiatus I have returned. Life is busy, you know?

Some things that have been going on...

On Saturday Peter and I picked out our Wedding Bands!! They are very very simple yellow gold bands. And we'll have the date inscribed on the inside. Thank you Barmakians! Then we walked throught the "Taste of Boston" on the common... Way too many people and way too little food. Kinda disappointing. We moved on the the Globe Corner Bookstore in Harvard square and picked up a road map of Andalucia. Dinner was at this great Vietnamese place in "the garage". yum.

Today was Peter and Becky's great adventure. I gave Peter a nice long lesson in driving a standard shift vehicle. My Stewart took it pretty well, but there were a couple false starts and a gear grind or two. All in all, though, I would say that he did a fine job. He's picking it quite quickly. :-) I am very proud of him.

Looking out to another work week. Wish me luck :)

hello folks.

I had to work last Saturday. 8:30 to 1 at the bank. I left shortly after one, stopped for lunch at Taco Bell at the Northshore Mall and then proceeded on to home sweet home in Townsend. As I approached my house I noticed the many, many cars parked out front. This could only mean one thing... Bridal Shower!!!! Horay. My bridesmaids and mom did a lovely job planning and hosting this afternoon tea and so many of the people that I love were there! I received many nice gifts and I am pleased to say that there were no joke gifts or stupid games involved :) Just a wonderful time...

And perhaps the best part was that Jennifer and her Momma stayed the night :) yay!

Happy friday the 13th. Pretty uneventful day. That's good, I guess.

Peter and I just went to see "Stealing Harvard". Interesting flick. I have mixed feelings about the movie, though. I was definately not as grossed out as I thought I would be, considering it was a Tom Green film. Dont' get me wrong there were some nasty parts, but all in all pretty clean. And I found the whole mix of the movie a little off. There was a clever plot throughout the film and there were some great sight gags and slapstick humor, but they didn't seem to meld together seemlessly. I did enjoy the movie. I laughed and was entertained, and that's what really counts.

**a side note** I think that Peter and I were in the minority in the theather. We were *gasp* over 20. Ninety-five percent of the patrons in our particular theater (11) were middle school kids.

On a completely unrelated note...Peter has gone and upgraded my darling little computer. I now no longer run my computer on the antiquated Windows 98. I have joined the 21st century and now run Windows XP. As of yet I have not discovered the wonderful advantages of running this new and improved version but I'm sure it is worth having if Peter was so intent on installing it :)

Have a lovely weekend, all. I am working tomorrow morning so keep me in your dreams as y'all sleep in and I get up and trudge to work!

I had a lovely time with my parents yesterday. We went to lunch at Panera and then wandered around the mall for a while and bought white wedding shoes. yipee! It was nice to see them.

When they left I walked out to Independance Park and walked the beach. It was a very good day for beach combing : very low tide. I saw some interesting things... There was a cute young couple with a teeny little baby collecting shells, a HUGE jellyfish that was washed up in the rocks, tons and tons of mussels and snails and hermit crabs, lots of seaglass (which I was gathering), and this guy on the sand who had a radio going and was accompying the music on his harmonica. nice. Over all it was just a nice day to walk the beach.

I went home and my Peter was not long in coming back from the CBD warehouse sale. So we went to dinner and then rented some movies...One we watched last night, "Haiku Tunnel". It was a funny, but weird movie. It's about this guy who's a temp and the hell he goes through when he "goes perm". It was just weird. If you're looking for a good office comedy movie try "Office Space" it's much better.

Now it is Sunday morning. The people who live upstairs obviously had something wonderful to get to today...So wonderful infact that they had to leave their apartment around 6:30 in the morning to get there. And they were loud to. But I'm up now and trying to keep myself busy. I hope you enjoy your Sunday :)

Saturday the 7th... What's new today?

Well, I went to my first class at Tufts. It was pretty much what I expected it to be. First day stuff..get your books, fill out information stuff, introductions... That kind of stuff. And one of the profs gave a little lecture about the history of museums and Museum Education. I'm really excited about getting into this stuff. It is going to be a lot of practical and hands on stuff...and that's the way I learn the best.

I'm off of Drive-up rotation for another couple weeks. That means I can go to work at 7:40 instead of 6:40. That'll be nice :)

Lets, see. I cleaned up my pad this morning...the folks are coming to visit. :)

I guess that's about it. Have a lovely Saturday!

hello peanut gallery.

It is a lovely September day out there. A little muggy, but not too bad. I, of course, was inside all day and now have very little motivation to go outside and take advantage of it. Boo!

On the other hand, I am making Shepherd's pie for dinner tonight. That takes a little get-up-and-go to make...

Tomorrow I am starting school at TUFTS. I have to buy pencils and paper and books and stuff. yay!

have a nice night!

Happy Saturday. I'd like to thank Mark and Peter for trying to make me feel better. thanks guys!

Here's some news. My roomie, Bethany, moved out this morning. The apartment is feeling a bit lonely without her. :( I am, however, looking forward to moving things into her vacated room and putting things just where I want them to be.

It is a wicked nice day out today. I have just gotten back from work and I opened up all the windows and the wind is blowing through the apartment. Nice.

I'm listening to "Standing Room Only" and they're playing Evita. yay.

Okay, I guess that's all for now. I'm thinking of playing with the site a little...laters.

I am starting to feel lonely again. Despite the fact that there were four comments made on my last blog I feel that the readership of this blog is pathetically low. Hence the low motivation I have to update often. I feel that the four people who I know read this already know most of the info that I put here because I talk to them...therefore making this blog unnecessary. Is there anyone out there who can prove me wrong? I hope so.

So, I'm working at the drive-up today and this man just drove up in a pickup truck. Along with his depost he included two peppermint candies in the drawer. How sweet!

8/14/2002 02:13:00 PM

< channel Bare Naked Ladies> Broke into my own apartment. This is where I wanna live. Fo'got my keys, rolled up my sleeves...and now I'm in again.< /channel Bare Naked Ladies>

That's right. I locked myself out of my house last night...but was able to cat burgle myself back in. I'm going to leave out the specifics because I don't want any of you breaking into my pad, but I can assure you that my moves were akin to those of agent 007.

Once inside Peter and I were able to commence watching "The Cider House Rules". I have wanted to see that movie for a while and I was in the mood for a drama so it was a good match. I did enjoy the movie. Tobey Maguire is pretty durn cute. But I would have to say that compared to the book (by John Irving) I was kinda disappointed. The book was powerful. It was traumatic for me. The characters were well developed and the plot had interesting and surprising twists in it. The movie was simple and transparent. I felt like I never got to know the characters and there were characters (ie. Mary Agnus) who didn't make any sense to me at all.

I understand that the 'adapted from the novel' means that things will be changed. I also know that this is a great movie if you haven't read the novel. Is there anyone out there with an opinion of either the book or the movie? I'd love to hear what you have to say.

Sometimes I just plain forget to blog :)

It's tuesday. I'm in Middleton... there really isn't too much more to report. I watched some of UHF last night and that movie just kills me. I can't believe that I hadn't seen it before this summer! yikes!

Yesterday at the main office in Danvers one of our fish was eaten to death by the other ones. pobrecito!

Maybe I'll post again later if the mood strikes me :)

later gators.

What a beautiful, sunny day. It's hot. I went for a walk on my break down to the Middleton Post Office. On my way there I passed the Library. Out in the Parking lot were a bunch of kids blowing bubbles with these HUGE bubble wands. It made me smile big :) And I was very jealous of them!

I'm getting off work early today (YAY!!!) to go to the Doctor (BOO!!) But what can you do? Everyone needs checkups.

Happy Tuesday Folks. Here's a little bit of trivia that I thought you might like.

On This day in 1956 - The motto "In God We Trust" was adopted as the United States national motto by President Dwight Eisenhower. The phrase, originally printed on US coins during the Civil War, was adopted as the national motto in part as a response to the growing influence of the Soviet Union around the world.

This forces me to look at how the United States has changed in the last 50 years. The terror that the US was feeling in the 50's was Communism. Our response to that threat was not only increased patriotism, but also a religious response from the White House. We wanted to show the world that we didn't just rely on ourseves or our military, but that there was a bigger force backing us up.

Our response to the new terrorism has been much different. Although there seemed to be an immediate turn to the church in response to the World Trade Center bombings our major response has not been a turn to God. Instead there has been a rash of extreem Patriotism. The last 10 months have been full of bold and brash statements, concerts, songs, articles,etc... about how much superior the United States is compared to these terrorists. {not that I disagree}

How much pride will come before the fall?

I seem to remember sometime in the past a girl named Megan wrote in her blog about her feelings on full-serve gas stations. I think that I would like discuss my love/hate relationship with these establishments...

When I was a small lass I was fascinated with self-serve gas stations. I loved the smell of gas and it just seemed had this feeling of grown-up-ness about it. I always begged my dad to let me get out of the car and help him to pump the gas. Sometimes he let me, sometimes he didn't.

Now that I have grown and have my own automobile I have a more intimate relationship with gas stations. I have discovered the joy of full-serve. I don't have to get out of my car when it is raining. If I'm dressed up I don't have to worry about getting dirty. And I never run the risk of leaving my gas cap sitting on top of the pump. Perfect.

However, I have found that very often (today being an example) I seem to be forgotton by the attendant. He goes off to fill other's tanks, swipe their credit cards, and make change and my tank's been full for several minutes... I get a little impatient. Those are the times I long for 'pay at the pump' *swipe, punch, pump and go* . no Hassles, no worries.

Some things I've seen out the Drive-up window today...

*a baseball team practicing in a near-by field* which grabbed my curiosity so much that on my break I took a walk out to the field to see them... It looked like a highschool kid coaching a bunch of younger boys. They were doing running and catching drills :)
*a rather overweight man...* who got out of his car and proceeded to stick his hands down his pants and tuck his shirt back in. And he was very devoted to his cause of the moment.
*this really old woman...* who took seven tries to park in between the lines :)

7/24/2002 11:04:00 AM

I'm working the drive up window today. I love the drive up. I get to look outside all day. It is much better than only looking at the lobby and out the windows on the other side. Here I get my very own window :)

Isn't it nice to talk to a good friend after a long dry spell? I have just been emailing my friend Heather and it just makes me smile to think about her.

Tonight my Dad and I are going to meet with the 'cake lady' (that's my name for her) We are going to talk about the wedding cake and taste some little cupcakes. Should be fun...and tasty!

Long time, no blog, huh? I make no apologies...I just haven't been here lately :)

Let's see. I'm still hanging out with that Peter character...More lately than ever before... We are just having a great time getting ready for the wedding... Auditioning bands and talking about the ceremony and all that other fun stuff :)

I've started a new job. I am now a full time teller at Danvers Savings Bank. I'm training at our branch in Middleton, but I will soon be moving to the main branch in Danvers. It is nice to be gainfully employed again. And since I have been a bank teller before it hasn't been to difficult to get used to.

Maybe since I have this nice computer at work I'll be more inclined to blog... we'll see. Peace out.

Well, there are some big things happening in my life these days. First and foremost: I have moved! From beautiful Townsend, MA to the seaside city of Beverly, MA. My appartment is cute and clean and still fairly empty. Slowly, but surely I am making it habitable :)

In other news, Peter and I went to Filene's tonight to start our bridal registry. YIKES! what an ordeal. It might not have been so bad except that we were accosted by the CHINA NAZI. That's right, folks. The China Nazi. This woman, probably noticing the complete lack of style in Peter and I {from the way that we were dressed} and decided to attach herself to us. She made us try china and crystal and flatware out on this tiny table... and she would take away the stuff we liked and replace it with other stuff. AHHH! She was quite overbearing and opinionated, but I have to concede that she did have some nice stylistic advice for us.

All in all, after an hour we had only registered for the formal china. NOTHING ELSE! we need to go back when she's not working :)

Sleep sweet, all. I'm off to get my beauty sleep!

Things are going well. I am very excited to be engaged to my Peter and we are having a ton of fun talking about our wedding and honeymoon. There's so much to think about and make decisions on. We're loving it, though. Thank you to everyone who has wished us well so far. We really appreciate the kind words.

More later :)

BIG NEWS!! Last night under a beautiful rainbow and an early moon Peter Ryan Wood asked me to be his wife. My answer was of course yes. How could it be anything else? It was perfect. My ring is perfect. And I am very excited. That's about all I can write at this moment. My attention span is very very short today... I'm sure that Peter will have some more words about this subject soon. You can read them :)

Okay, okay! To those of you who have chastized me for not posting (and to keep myself off Peter's "lazy lions" list) here it is....

Life has been pretty hectic lately. I have been finishing and submitting my application to Tufts University in Medford, Mass. It is finally in and now all I can do is wait to hear if they want me or not. I also submitted my newest FAFSA form. Those of you in College can appreciate that :)

The ongoing search for a place to live seems to have come to an end as well. At the moment it looks like I'll be living in Beverly... More later when things have settled in on that...

And what is left after that is to find a job to get me through the year while I'm (hopefully) at Tufts. I'm currently reworking my Resume to make it look like I'm a banker and not a museum person...

Enough of that. I had a wonderful weekend with my Peter. We didn't do a whole lot, but we went out walking around in the beautiful weather on Sunday. We also saw Spider-Man. Exciting Flick :)

That's all for now...

Yoga just kicked my butt tonight. I am feeling muscles that I didn't know I had. I guess that's a good thing, though. I think I am going to snuggle into my bed and just relax the night away.

Oh. if you are in an area that is not wicked cloudy (like Townsend is right now) there is some kind of planetary allignment that is supposed to be really cool. I saw one the other night and it was pretty amazing. Four planets that are visible to the naked eye lined up from upper left to lower right. Neat-o!

This is to anyone out there who reads this who may also have read the book, The Red Tent. I am right in the middle of it and am thoroughly intrigued by it. I would love to hear what any of you may have to say about it... from a Christian and a non-Christian point of view. Also, to any of you who haven't read it...Please do. I'm dying to talk about it with someone...

I'll give a better synopsis of the book when I'm a little closer to finishing it :)

4/21/2002 07:51:00 PM

Sunday again. I'd have to say that God really knew what he was doing when he created the Sabbath. It is so nice to have a day dedicated to relaxing and rejuvinating yourself. Ahhhhhh!

But the day I knew would arrive is here. It's true. Since the very first day I sat behind the steering wheel of an automobile I have dreaded this day's coming. And here it is. ok, ok, I know. here it is. I KILLED A POOR LITTLE BIRD IN THE ROAD!!! It wasn't really completely my fault, however. The bird flew under the car ahead of me and got stunned and then I just couldn't swerve around it and I fear that I was the cause of his demise. And I feel terrible about it.

It is a lovely Saturday morning here in Massachusetts and I am somewhat pleased and somewhat shocked to report that we here in the Northeast experienced an earthquake early this morning. I was lying here on the top bunk in Bethany's room at Gordon and suddenly it began to shake. I thought it was Bethany rolling over, but it lasted much to long. Turns out it was a 5.1 on the Richter scale. WOW. This is the second earthquake I can remember being in. The other one was when my family was in Niagra Falls in 1988ish. I think that they are exciting, but I am very glad that this one didn't cause any huge damage!

Happy Patriot's Day to those of you in the beautiful state of Massachusetts. Happy Tax day to the rest of you :)

Once again I had a lovely weekend... this particular weekend, however, was especially special. I not only got to see Peter, but I got to spend time with my Jennifair from far away New Jersey. Horay! Smack!

Yesterday the three of us drove in Mr and Mrs Bresnan's Seabring convertable {did you hear that? CONVERTABLE} up to the Halibut Point State Park in Rockport, Ma. We walked around and sat on the rocks and watched the waves all afternoon. Wonderful! Copious photos documenting the day are available hereon Peter's site. Enjoy!

hello. guess what I saw as I was driving today? In a yard on the side of the road there was this huge crow. That's not so spectacular in itself, right? The crazy part is that he had two long french fries hangning out of his mouth!! Ha Ha!

Happy Friday!

Well, since I have joined the gym and am paying for the privalege of using it I have decided that I had better get the most for my money. So today I went and worked out in the gym this afternoon and then went back this evening for an aerobics class. Needless to say, I am a bit tired :)

It's Saturday. I spent this morning with my Peter having breakfast and running some errands. He left just before lunch for Logan to fly to Columbus, Ohio. The rest of the day was spent with my folks and my brother Corey. nice times. We came back after dinner and Core and I got busy dying easter eggs :) ahhhh tradition!!

Happy Tuesday! The rain is falling and has been all day. It is good because we desperately need it! yay!

Well, today I took a little plunge. I went and joined 'The Power Plant'. Townsend's one and only fitness club. It is pretty small and full of townies, but I think that paying the membership fee will give me the incentive to go there day after day.

Monday, March 25, 2002
I thought that I would type up a little update on my life plans at the moment... (for anyone who is a little curious) I am loving working at the Tsongas Industrial History Center in Lowell, Mass. There are two glitches, though. 1. the pay. 2. the job technically ends come June 14th. So, I have been activally looking for a more permanent position for after June.

The resumes have been going out, but as of yet I have heard very little from any employer. And the one that I did hear from was in the 'no' form. So, it hasn't been very heartening. I have also been looking at alternatives. The one that ranks at the top right now is the Museum Studies Program at Tufts University in Medford, Ma. It is a one year program; four courses and an internship. It looks really interesting and everyone I've talked to about it thinks that it is worth the tuition for the internship alone, never mind the courses.

Assuming that I am accepted, I'm going to have to figure out what to do to support myself. I'm thinking that perhaps falling back on my banking experience may be the most practical idea at the moment. We'll see what happens.

well, there's a little update. :)

Alrighty folks. I am terribly curious about who exactly reads this little blog. Since I have been successful in getting a commenting feature working here I think that it would be a great way for you to let me know that you're reading this. So, just drop me a little note and leave your name :) I'll get the ball rolling with the first comment, ok?

Today was such a wonderful day. Nice and sunny and, well, kinda warm...Peter and I went into Boston for the better part of the day. We went to Fanueil Hall for lunch and then we went up into the meeting hall to do a little historical sightseeing. On from there we strolled the back streets of Beacon Hill. Such cute little streets and beautiful old houses and buildings. The day was just right for a little stroll. We went down to the Public Gardens and saw the 'Ducklings'. Quite a nice afternoon. Now we're sitting here at 16 central watching the Steve Martin classic, "All of Me" Steve and Lily Tomlin are quite the pair :)

I hope you all are having a wonderful Saturday. Make sure you do something fun this weekend, ok?

plugging right along on the quilt project. I think that it looks quite lovely, if I do say so myself :) I can't believe this beautiful snow we're having here. I absolutely love it! Everything is white and clean looking. I know that it is mid-march, but I'll take snow whenever God chooses to send it!

'ello. happy monday again. i did try to post since last monday, but blogger has been acting up. Since then I have tripped in a pothole and sprained my ankle... and four days of sitting with it elevated and iced seems to have made it feel better. other than that, life has been pretty normal.

It's Monday. And everyone's Monday dream came true for me today. I got to stay home from work! :) I played chauffeur for my mom. She has a knee that keeps giving her problems and it makes it hard for her to drive a standard shift car (which is all we have). So I took her to the Doctor and then out to lunch. All in all just a really nice day.

Dad and I went down to the church to help paint the new Pastor's office. {new office, same pastor} I love little projects like that. It was us and the Gustafsons and we just went to town. nice.

Ok. I know it. I haven't posted in forever. There are a few reasons for this. 1. I've been working on this quilt and it is cold in the Sewing Room and so I try to do as much of it as I can before it's dark...and by then I'm not in the mood for blogging. and 2. Lately I've been just plain lazy :) Oh well. I'll try to be a bit better in the coming weeks.

I also think I'm gonna try changing things a bit...but don't hold your breath!! :-D

got to see my gramma Q today. All by myself. It is so rare that she and I are in a room together without anyone else. We just sat around for a while and chated. It was very nice.

wanna hear a funny story? this morning I was pulled over by an officer of the Tyngsboro Police Department. "Speeding?" you ask. "Why, No." I quickly reply. As it turns out, the rental car that I have been driving for over a month does not have an inspection sticker on the lower right hand corner of the winshield. He was the first police officer that decided it was worth pulling me over because of it. huh.

Oh well. no ticket, no fines. just a little rapid heartbeat and frustration on my way to work. boo!

What a nice little weekend. I got to spend it with some of my absolute favorite people....

Jennifer came up from New Jersey on Friday and we went to the Miles River Middle School productin of Guys and Dolls. The kids were soooo darn cute!

Then on Saturday the Peter-boy and I hung out, went to the gym and then to Fire and Ice in Harvard Square for dinner. What a cool place! Check out the link!

Sunday was Becky and the Boys day... Peter, Jeremy and I went grocery store, and then to see The Count of Monte Cristo at the Showcase in Woburn. Then we booked it back to 16 Central just in time to catch the Super Bowl and eat Velveeta-Bean dip and chips. GO PATS!

But now it's Monday night and I am tired from such a good weekend so I think I'll just bum around this evening and hit the hay early... Sound good??

Well, it's been a while huh?

I've been looking at a little, green Volkeswagon Golf... It's a 95, fourdoor hatchback...oh! and it's a standard transmission...yay! I test drove it yesterday and I like it...so we'll see what happens.

Work was great today. I ran a group of fifth graders through the paces in our assembly line...They were cute and smart and funny. It was a lot of fun to be with them!

I think I may try to fool around with the way this looks...we'lll see.

Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day! I started enjoying my day off by sleeping till 10:30. wow!

I had another wonderful weekend with my Peter. We went to see Blue Man Group on Friday. I had seen it already, but it was so much fun to see Peter watching it :) On Saturday we ran errands...got the brakes on Peter's car fixed, he got a haircut and new glasses...then lunch at Panera, hung around and watched Tarzan...nice...

Sunday we did lunch at On the Border, shoveled the driveway and walk and then took a walk around his neighborhood in Woburn. It was a beautiful day! Later on we picked up Jeremy from work and went to see A Beautiful Mind. A FABULOUS movie! I am still thinking about it.

A late night drive home and I jumped right into bed :)

Snow Day! I couldn't believe it when I heard the phone ring this morning at 6:30. Could it really be Tim with blessings of a day off? And yet it was! So I quickly snuggled back into bed and made the most of the morning! Just as long as I don't get too used to it :)

Thanks to Art Lawry I have been intrigued by the Friday Five... so here goes.

The Friday Five

1 What was your first job?
Besides babysitting... I worked for Kennedy Gallery on Martha's Vineyard selling art prints to tourists.

2 How old were you when you had your first kiss?
21

3 What was your first car? What hapened to it?
A 1986 red Saab 900. His name was OTTO... he was deemed 'undrivable' by my dad and donated to a charity organization.

4 What was your first concert?
I saw Bobby McFerrin when I was 8ish... Other than that I saw Ricky Martin and Aerosmith among others last summer...

5 How do you plan on spending your weekend?
With my Peter. {'nuff said}

Feliz Cumpleanos! (to me that is...) I have just returned from my annual birthday dinner with Mr Charles Clough. Today he celebrated his 81st birthday and I my 23rd. We had a nice dinner :)

An update from the car front... Hedwig, the station wagon, has been deemed, by more than one person, 'totalled'. So that's the bad news... The good news is that the other guy's insurance will have to pay to replace my car. So, I guess that I am back in the market for a car.

Well, the insurance agent, with a little prodding from good ole dad, came through for me... I am currently driving my rental car. Here's a picture, but keep in mind that mine is black :) It is really fun to drive and everything works on it! I feel kinda snobby driving it, though. Anyhoo, it is a very nice rental.

Happy New Year! I hope you all had fun ringing in the New Year! Peter and I went to a costume party at a friends house in Beverly. It was quite nice. We spent New Year's day just lazing around...watching the parade..hanging around. Nice.

much excitement today. I'm going to clean out the stuff in my car so it's nice and clean for the mechanic. Then I'm gonna go down to the Townsend Police Station to see what I have to do to finish off this police report thing. After that I'm headed to the insurance agent to find out how to make a certain sleepy driver pay for all the repairs to Hedwig. I also need to put some finishing touches on Peter's costume for tonight.

**An Update... The guy who hit my car was a 32 year old from South Boston who supposedly was on his way home from work (though why he was on central street is still a mystery) when he fell asleep and smashed my car.** more updates to follow.

Where to begin...

Last night Peter drove me to Lynn to Becky P's apartment where I was to spend the night. I left my lovely car, Hedwig, parked on Central Street in Woburn. I slept fine during the night, but I can not say the same for poor Hedwig. Some kid {details to follow} ran into her!! The whole front right side and wheel are crunched in... The kid must have busted something in his car as well because there is some oily stuff all over the road behind my car and lots of skid marks. Said Kid abandoned his car on the street and took off. The police towed it this morning.

This story has a happy ending... AAA is coming to tow my car home...and the police office found the kid and he confessed. So that means no money out of my pocket :) Hopefully everything will be all back to normal soon.

Let me tell you. 30 forth graders should not be alowed to be in the same room together! That was my group today and they were great, but very tiring!

This week after Thanksgiving really should be December. I feel like it is a limbo week. I don't want to be all Christmas excited before December, but there's no celebration for the last week in Thanksgiving. :)

*Phew!* Long day today! This morning round about 4:30am I was roused from my slumber and urged to get dressed. Dad, Corey and I piled into the car and set off towards our destination...Martha's Vineyard. Our mission? To dig a trench to connect our septic tank to the new town septic system. woohoo!

We got there around 8:30ish and had our trench finished around noon. We then walked the 3+ miles to Vineyard Haven, got lunch and got the boat back home.

I think that Bourne High School 10th grade has won the award for the most obnoxious school group yet! They were scheduled for 6 programs that run from 9:30 to 1:30...They showed up in their four busses at 10 and their nazi teacher declared that they would be leaving at 11:30. YIKES! So, those of us that were working with groups had less than half our normal time to impart to them all our wisdom.

As if that wasn't bad enough, many of the kids had been slogging from someone's home mixed version of Long Island Ice Tea in a soda bottle on the bus. 37 tipsy 10th graders in one group is not exactly my idea of fun!

But the good thing about museum work is that the groups always leave at the end of the day. :) And now I am on Thanksgiving vacation for the next five days. YAY!

Harry Potter, Harry Potter, Harry Potter, Harry Potter...(to the tune of "we can do it, we can do it, we can help our Cinderelly).

That's right folks, I have see the movie and it is good! In my humble opinion here's my list of "thumbs up" and "thumbs down".

Ups. Snape. He was amazing!
Ron. Adorable
Oliver Wood. (see Ron)
Quiddich. I'd like to learn to play.
"Alas. Ear Wax."
(oh there are so many more...)

Downs. Voldemort. Nasty creature. (well, I guess he's supposed to be, so maybe that's an up...)
The Baby Norbert plot. Had to leave somethings out, I guess.
No Hermione "logic problem" in the challenge under Fluffy. (see above)
The Happy Christmas scene. (no depth)

I hadn't been so excited to see a movie in a very long time. This was definately worth getting excited about!

I'm starting to formulate a Christmas list for my folks and extended family. I get to this point every year and I have to say that I absolutely hate it! It always makes me feel greedy and selfish. Like, "since you're going to spend money on me you might as well buy me something I like." YUCK! And I hate when people ask me what I want for Christmas.

Still, I understand why it is important. People who love me want to get me things that will make me happy and since they can't tell what I'm thinking or feeling all the time they need me to tell them... I still find it awkward.

ARG! My head hurts and my legs are sore and I just ache all over. Crummy Wednesday!

In other news...we had a staff developement day today at work. The morning sessions were kinda long and drawn out and not too helpful, but this afternoon was much better. We had a historical architect come and give us a lesson about the mill building we're in. It was really interesting. I think I can even use it in my programs. yay!

Yesterday, that is Monday, Mom, Dad, Jennifair and I went to the Sanders Theater at Harvard University. The Boston Landmarks Orchestra premeired a piece written as a memorial to the September 11th tragedy. Very powerful piece. They also played Bethoveen's 9th Symphony. (yup. all of it!) It was an amazing night and it was all a benefit for an organization called "Woman Waging Peace". There were women from all over the world at Harvard for a two week training period and they were at the concert last night. It was amazing to see them.

Two Posts today...Mucho going on.

This past weekend Peter and Jeremy and I discovered a little jem in the middle of Lynn, Mass. Lynn Great Woods Reservation. It was a beautiful Park with some great hiking trails. We found the Cache up there and encountered a first for Peter and I. Their names were Ben and Kayla. Another Geocacher and his beautiful 18 month baby girl. Fellow geocachers. This was the first time he or us had run into someone else at a cache. We had a nice little chat and went our separate ways.

Also Sunday I joined Beverly Nazarene's Christmas Eve Choir. It was nice to sing in a choir again!

happy Saturday! I was in southern Mass this morning and it was raining cats and dogs out...but here in Woburn now it is nice and sunny :)

Peter and I have been doing a little messing around with this site and we seem to have fixed the silly 'narrowing' problem...and I have also installed BlogBack... So, feel free to leave me a message or two. I'd love to know who else reads this!

How much do I love 4th graders?! At work today I was shadowing a program that leaves the Tsongas Center and goes out to schools to present information about the Industrial Revolution. It's called "Farm to Factory" and the kids seemed to love it. I had a great time too. I think that this is really why I wanted to get into the museum scene. This idea of bringing the museum to the schools and working directly with the kids really appeals to me. It brings history alive so much more than text books do.

For those of you who are curious... Peter and I saw They Might Be Giants last night. I had a great time. It was loud, smokey, crowded and tons of fun. The nightclub life isn't really our scene, but we managed :)

A typical Monday... Full of it's ups and downs...

1. I have a sore ear...it hurts. {a down}

2. I got to work in the Weave Room {an up}

3. My senior year Yearbook came in the mail! {yay!}

4. My Mass Teacher Exam results came in the mail {boo!}

5. I'm already in my pj's {you make the call}

6. The water table is a bit to low up here on the hill and our house has very little water That means no showers and washing hair in the kitchen sink. {very oldfashioned, but still a down}

In other news... I had a wonderful weekend with my Peter. And I don't have to wait a week to see him again...Tomorrow we are going to see They Might Be Giants :)

This day is called the feast of Crispian:
He that outlives this day, and comes safe home,
Will stand a tip-toe when the day is named,
And rouse him at the name of Crispian.
He that shall live this day, and see old age,
Will yearly on the vigil feast his neighbours,
And say 'To-morrow is Saint Crispian:'
Then will he strip his sleeve and show his scars.
And say 'These wounds I had on Crispin's day.'

"Not to us, O Lord, not to us
but to your name be the glory,
because of your Love and Faithfulness."

H2O day. I spent today in the Tsongas Center's water room. The kids built canals and mills and they tested water wheels and turbines...and got plenty wet :) Can't beat that with a stick!

And I am such a ding-a-ling... Really, I mean it! I'm headed down to Townsend Congregational to be a substitute bell player in our church's handbell choirs. WooHoo! It's been a while since I have played.

Whew! Today was a day full of fun and exciting things! Peter and I went up this hill in Winchester and discovered not one, but two geocaches. Both were full of stuff and offered beautiful views of the boston skyline and the New England Fall Foliage. We then proceeded to Bill and Bob's Famous Roast Beef for lunch and then back to Woburn. Peter helped me a bit with my html and we tweaked this site a bit...

Then Jennifer came down and we went to a very crowded On the Border for dinner. Back to Woburn and we watched "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" with Art and Jeremy. Now it is late...Off to bed :)

Let's see... The nameless car is now fully dressed with its inspection sticker. YAY!

Mom and I went out shopping tonight. Building 19 and Walmart! Can't beat those. We did a bit of poking around and only bought a few things. But it was fun to be out.

Well folks, I went to get an inspection sticker for my car and I was turned down flat by the two garage owners that I approached. One told me that they wouldn't run the emmissions test after 4pm (understandable if it had been after 4...but it was 3:40!!) and the other guy told me to come back first thing in the morning. That helps because I don't have to go to work then! JEEZ!

Hmmmm. Here's a fun little pastime... Geocaching. Peter bought himself a GPS for his birthday and we decided to give it a try this weekend. We went to a cache in Shrewsbury, Ma and spent a half hour poking around in the woods looking for this little metal ammo box. It was a fun way to be outdoors on a Saturday afternoon.

Last night was tons of fun! Here's the lowdown...

When I was in Oregon I had three roomates... One of them was named Bethany. Bethany lives in far away Grand Rapids, Michigan. Recently (Saturday, the 6th) said Bethany was married to her beau, named Adam.

Whilst on their honeymoon here in Massachusetts, for reasons undisclosed to me, they decided that they wanted to see me... So, Peter and I met them in Boston last night for dinner. It was great to see her and to meet Adam. We ate at Uno's and walked around the harborfront before heading out.

Ps...NO RUNNING ;-)

Well folks, I have finally entered the adult financial world! I have gone out and purchased an automobile...from an actual dealer! My new wheels are underneath a 1992 Subaru Legacy Station Wagon. My brother says that it suits me :) I haven't actually picked it up yet, but soon...

And for all of you who are curious as to what it looks like here's a link... my new wheels it looks just like that but two years older...

ps. Sorry about the Russian...

Yesterday was my Peter's birthday. 23. Wow! He's an old man!

To celebrate we left Woburn at 6am and trucked down to Union Station in New Haven, Connecticut and boarded a train bound for New York City. That's right, THE BIG APPLE. Once there we took in as many sights as we could in the 8 hours we had... Grand Central Station, Times Square, The Crysler Building, Carnegie's Deli, Central Park, Radio City Music Hall, Rockafeller Center, The United Nations, The New York Public Library, and we saw the ruins of the World Trade Center.

Speaking of which... I didn't know how I was going to react, but that sight hit me wicked hard. We stood there with the throngs of other people and I just burst into tears. I couldn't help it. Seeing it myself made the whole thing more real; like it had actually happened. There were so many sensory aspects there. The sight of the one remaining wall, the sound of the trucks and cranes working to remove the rubble, and the smell of the burning and smoldering metal still linger with me.

I'm glad we went to see it. It is not something that I will ever forget.

So, after two weeks of "training" I finally get to do some actual teaching tomorrow at the Tsongas Center. WooHoo! I'm looking forward to it.
